This oil pipeline is dangerous. It's time to shut it down.
Enbirdge's Line 5 Pipeline pumps 22,680,000 gallons of oil andn natural gas liquids daily through Wisconsin, a Native American Reservation, Michigan, and 2 Great Lakes. If a spill were to happen it would mean catastrophe for 84% of North America's fresh surface water, but also plant life and animal life could be altered for generations if spawning water areas are destroyed.
Enbridge has a horrible track record of devastating oil spills; including the Kalamazoo oil spill of 2010 -- The largest inland oil spill in US history. We don't want our Great Lakes to be next.
Don't worry, I know what you're thinking: How will this affect gas prices and people's homes? Enbridge themselves paid for a consulting group to figure out what would happen if we shut down Line 5. They found that gas prices would increase by half of a penny to a penny per gallon, and that all of the oil in this pipeline could get to it's final destination through other pipelines that don't cross Native Land and don't go underwater in the Great Lakes.
Tell President Biden that he needs to revoke the Presidential Permit for Line 5, and shut it down to protect our waterways, communities, and wildlife along the pipeline.
